WHAT IS FIXED WIRELESS?

Fixed wireless is a method of delivering high-speed internet service to a single location using radio frequencies.  This requires a dish or antenna to send and receive service through the air to a nearby tower.  It provides high speed internet service that is not affected by weather.

This service requires clear line of sight from the building receiving service and the tower to which it is connected.  Technicians will determine whether any obstructions exist which could prevent service delivery.  If service is unavailable to your location due to obstructions no installation will be completed and you will not be charged an installation fee.

A dish usually about the size of a car steering wheel will need to be installed outside of your home or office.  The technician will select the dish which works best for your location.  Mounting options vary by building type and location.  The technician will work with you to determine the best place to mount the dish and where to bring the service cable in to the home.  Each installation varies depending on the situation.  The technician performing the installation can help explain in detail how service installation will look for your home.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Fixed wireless provides many benefits over wired service.  Most notably fixed wireless is available today.  Fiber and other wireline technologies take time to build.  You need internet access today and if you’re waiting around for fiber it doesn’t do any good if it isn’t available now.

Fixed wireless is also quicker to resolve outages.  Since the two components to the system include the equipment on the tower and the equipment at the home, a repair can be done in a matter of hours and sometimes minutes rather than days or even weeks with fiber.
